High-efficiency modular drill: DRA. Using the latest technology, Kyocera has developed the new DRA modular drill to tackle several drilling problems. Improved hole accuracy with a low-cutting-force design. An S-curve cutting edge with a special chisel edge controls vibration. A 35% reduction in cutting force compared to products from other manufacturers. Stable chip evacuation with optimized chip thinning. A support-groove function in 5D and 8D holders allows smooth chip evacuation. Easy insert replacement without removing the screw. MEGACOAT NANO grade PR1535 allows stable machining and up to five times the tool life of competitor inserts.

A micro-diameter milling cutter for high-feed machining: MFH Micro. The newest member of the MFH family delivers high-feed machining with cutting diameters from 8 mm.

A three-dimensional convex cutting edge makes it resistant to chatter and facilitates stable machining. MFH Micro exhibits a slow increase in cutting force when entering the workpiece and reduces cutting force by 27% compared to products from other manufacturers. It also has good chip separation and achieves high-quality surface finish by suppressing cutting-chip biting.

The MFH Micro has a selection of sizes from 8 mm to 16 mm. Machining efficiency is improved and cost reduced when it is used in place of a solid end mill. The addition of the Micro to the MFH family provides a substantial high-feed milling lineup with multiple solutions for a wide array of machining challenges.

Hybrid cermet for steel machining. Achieve both an excellent machined surface and long tool life. Kyocera has changed the standard for cermet with new hybrid technology.

A high-melting-point hybrid binder phase provides improved welding properties and high-quality surface finish. Stable machining and excellent machined surface finishes from high-speed to low-speed feed rates.

Achieve both excellent abrasion resistance and fracture resistance with a special gradient composition technology that uses a high-hardness cermet on the surface and a high-toughness cermet inside.

TN610 and PV710, new grades that help achieve high-speed cutting and excel in abrasion resistance, have been added to the lineup. PV710 and PV720 adopt heat-resistant MEGACOAT NANO to achieve high abrasion resistance.

Other featured new products include the VC chipbreaker for copying and V-groove slotting of various shapes. It achieves excellent chip control in a wide range of machining applications.

PDL025, a DLC coating material that produces high-quality aluminum machining and long tool life. DLC coating creates a hardness property similar to that of diamond using Kyocera’s proprietary hydrogen-free DLC coating. Excellent surface finish is achieved with high aluminum welding resistance. Benefit from DLC coating in a wide range of applications, including turning, milling, and cut-off tools.

Grooving tools for small-parts machining: GBF. Low cutting force with a large rake angle achieves high-precision grooving.

The lineup includes groove widths from 0.25 mm and maximum groove depths up to 3 mm. PR1535 for stainless steel achieves stable machining and long life with a combination of a high-toughness base material and a special nano coating layer, MEGACOAT NANO.

The popular PR1535 series grade delivers excellent performance in a wide range of automatic lathe machining.

Our three-dimensional sharp-edge series delivers excellent chip-control performance with a special chipbreaker for an automatic lathe. Back-turning tool TKF with the GQ chipbreaker achieves excellent chip control using the three-dimensional breaker. It suppresses clogging and biting and is capable of single-pass machining. An expanded lineup of cutoff tools includes the KGD for automatic lathes. It allows optimum tool selection to match the type of machining.

A solid end mill for superalloy machining: 4JER. We have developed a solid end mill for machining superalloys, including Inconel, which is conventionally difficult to machine. With a chip pocket for smooth chip evacuation at the tip during slotting applications, it achieves chip evacuation twice that of conventional products. The cutting-edge shape is optimal for machining heat-resistant alloys such as Inconel, is resistant to breakage, and is capable of stable slotting and trochoidal machining. MEGACOAT HARD coating technology delivers the highest hardness and thermal resistance in Kyocera’s PVD coating arsenal. It achieves long tool life and stable machining. Improved chatter resistance with irregular pitch and variable helix design. Resistant to chatter and achieves high-quality surface finish.

A solid end mill for aluminum machining: 3AFK. High efficiency with three flutes. The 3AFK delivers strength in aluminum machining with a sharp edge and anti-chattering performance. It achieves excellent machining precision with low wall-flatness deviation. The 3AFK core thickness is improved by 20% compared to the competition, achieving high chatter resistance. A 2.5D flute length has been added to the 3AFK lineup. A 30% improvement in wall-flatness deviation is achieved compared with similar 2D flute-length products from other manufacturers. Stable machining even for deep slotting, with a 65% reduction in burr height.
