Kyocera cutting tools: new products. Kyocera’s revolutionary new cermet grades adopt hybrid technology. Both new cermet grades, TN620 and PV720, are ideal for steel machining. Achieve an excellent surface finish as well as improved stability when machining steel with both grades.
Hybrid cermet promises an excellent surface finish. The key to the excellent performance is Kyocera’s hybrid technology. Both TN620 and PV720 have a special surface-hardened hybrid structure, which gives the surface and inner structures unique compositions. Compared to conventional micrograin cermet, the surface area is harder and more wear resistant, whereas the inner structure is superior in chipping resistance and thermal-shock resistance. The result is an optimal balance between wear resistance and fracture resistance, allowing both grades to succeed in a wide range of machining conditions.
The improved oxidation resistance of TN620 and PV720 results from a high-melting-point hybrid bonded phase, combining the conventional cermet bonded phase and a special high-melting metallic bonded phase. PV720 has special titanium nitride layers and the proprietary MEGACOAT NANO coating to improve performance and help easily identify insert corner usage. Tests have shown longer tool life and increased performance of TN620 and PV720. Talk to a Kyocera representative to see how these grades can improve steel machining.
Kyocera’s MFH and MFH Mini high-feed cutters for maximizing machining efficiency. The key to the MFH and MFH Mini’s high performance is the 3D convex cutting-edge shape. This insert design reduces impact when approaching the workpiece, providing stable machining.
The addition of the MFH Mini to the MFH lineup provides a wider range of machining. The small, multi-edge MFH Mini produces high-efficiency machining on a small machining center. Compared to a competitor’s high-feed cutter, the MFH’s advanced chip evacuation enables excellent surface finish.
The larger-size MFH uses three types of inserts to tackle a wide range of machining. The GM-type insert for general-purpose machining reduces machining time. It is applicable to a variety of applications, including helical milling, plunging, and ramping.
The LD-type insert is used for large depths of cut and high-feed machining. As seen here, the LD-type insert is used on the first pass to remove scale under a large depth of cut. On the second pass, the feed rate is increased to produce high efficiency.
Lastly, the FL-type insert provides both reduced chattering and excellent surface finish. Regardless of your application, the MFH and MFH Mini are the first choice for high-feed milling.
The MFK, Kyocera’s new high-efficiency multi-edge cutter for cast iron milling. Two unique insert features reduce cutting forces and improve edge strength. The helical cutting-edge design reduces cutting force. Fractures are controlled by a double-edged insert structure. Sharp cutting performance prevents burr formation.
The MFK is available in fine pitch and extra-fine pitch with cutting diameters ranging from 80 to 315 millimeters. The insert lineup consists of four different chipbreaker types for applications from roughing to finishing.
The new CA420M CVD-coated carbide grade is specifically created for long tool life and stable machining of cast iron. The test data shows the excellent performance of CA420M. Other grade options include PR1510 for stability, PR1525 for fracture resistance, and KS6050 and CS7050 ceramics for high-speed cutting.
The MFK high-efficiency cutter is the answer for all your cast iron milling applications.
If you have problems with chip control when back turning, Kyocera has the answer. The new TKFB molded insert with the GQ chipbreaker is designed for optimal chip control.
In this side-by-side comparison, you can see the GQ chipbreaker’s excellent chip control compared to a conventional ground insert. The 3D molded chipbreaker is the key to smooth chip control. The unique shape prevents chips from tangling in the workpiece when turning. Unlike the unstable chip control from a competitor’s insert, the GQ chipbreaker produces small chip curls that won’t tangle in the workpiece.
The GQ chipbreaker is also used to prevent chip clogging in grooving. It provides improved surface finish by controlling chip clogging, and the excellent surface finish is evident even after one pass.
Kyocera’s TKFB insert with the GQ chipbreaker is the first choice for back turning.
Introducing grade PR1535 for difficult-to-cut materials with an expanded tooling lineup. PR1535 continues to show great success in milling heat-resistant alloys, titanium alloys, and stainless steel.
PR1535’s tough substrate prevents fracturing. Kyocera’s specialized MEGACOAT NANO coating technology provides greater wear resistance and stable machining of difficult-to-cut materials. PR1535 outperforms competitors with greater fracture resistance. Numerous case studies have shown the exceptionally long tool life of grade PR1535.
After high success rates in milling difficult-to-cut materials, Kyocera is now implementing grade PR1535 for negative turning inserts. Sudden cracking is suppressed during scale removal and interrupted turning of difficult-to-cut materials.
PR1535 has also been added to KGD and KTKF cut-off styles for greater fracture resistance. KTKF is also available for back turning and threading. Utilize Kyocera’s powerful grade PR1535, now available across a wide range of machining applications.
Introducing Kyocera’s efficient solid end mills 4FK and 4FR for machining difficult-to-cut materials, including heat-resistant alloys, titanium alloys, and stainless steel. The 4FK and 4FR are built for smooth chip evacuation during high-feed machining by utilizing a large chip pocket and rake angle. The large rake and helix angles reduce cutting forces by 20% while slotting. Burrs are suppressed due to low cutting resistance. Variable lead and unique unequal spacing between the teeth greatly reduce chattering in the workpiece. Reduced chattering leads to excellent surface finishes. With Kyocera’s specialized MEGACOAT NANO coating technology, the 4FK and 4FR provide long tool life, with wear half as much as competitor products. Try the powerful performance of the 4FK and 4FR high-efficiency end mills for difficult-to-cut materials.
