New CVD-coated CA4515 and CA4505 for cast iron machining. The first choice for machining high-strength gray and nodular cast iron is KYOCERA CVD-coated CA45 series inserts.

The new Bright Black coating technology improves coating adhesion, resulting in longer and more consistent tool life. The innovative surface treatment applied to the top layer of the Bright Black coating prevents chip adhesion. Long and stable tool life is attained through the use of a multilayer coating structure with a dedicated substrate for cast iron turning.

The CA45 series covers a wide application range. CA4515 covers continuous to heavy interrupted machining while providing high stability. CA4505 is suitable for high-speed, high-efficiency machining with high wear resistance. CA4515 shows superior fracture resistance compared to the competition. When comparing wear resistance, CA4505 shows significantly less nose wear during the same time of cutting.

When machining cast iron, it is essential to choose the appropriate chipbreaker for each application. The CA45 series inserts have a wide lineup to cover continuous to heavy interrupted machining.

In this customer evaluation, CA4515 achieved 70 percent longer tool life than the competition. In this field test, CA4505 provided an additional two hours of tool life, resulting in 20 more parts per edge than the competition. CA4515 and CA4505 achieve long and stable tool life.
