Introducing the newly developed DRV indexable Magic Drill. The DRV provides improved rigidity and limits deflection with its optimal web thickness. With reduced variation in hole diameter, the DRV maintains stable machining results even when performing deep-hole drilling applications. A low-cutting-force design obtains excellent hole accuracy with reduced chattering. The 2D to 6D drilling lineup offers stable drilling at each depth.

The DRV controls chip evacuation with a unique insert design. A U-shaped cutting edge is used for the outside insert, along with a unique pattern to differentiate between outside and inside inserts. It reduces chip clogging with smooth evacuation of compact chips. The inside insert uses a spoon-shaped cutting edge. The DRV produces chips 47% smaller than those of competitor products. Efficient chip evacuation is achieved with less friction resistance.

The outside cutting edge uses a CVD insert for high-efficiency machining. Compared to a conventional PVD insert, the DRV’s outside cutting-edge CVD insert improved maximum cutting speed by 55%. Kyocera’s new CVD coating for drilling maintains excellent abrasion resistance. The economical four-edge inserts support various machining applications using four different chipbreaker designs: GM for general-purpose machining, tough-edge GH, SM for stainless steel machining, and XM for machining low-carbon steels.

Numerous customer tests of the SM chipbreaker in stainless steel resulted in excellent chip control and prevented chips from remaining in the finished hole. Some customers were able to cut their cycle time in half after testing the DRV. This customer was able to increase cutting speed by 1.6 times and reduce cycle time by 40%. Expect great results when you switch to the DRV Magic Drill.

As the DRA modular Magic Drill continues to gain popularity worldwide, Kyocera is now expanding the DRA lineup to include all-new 1.5D sizes. Look for even more DRA Magic Drill expansions in the near future.

Meet the new MFAH milling cutter for finishing aluminum. The MFAH comes equipped with adjustable blade runout for highly efficient milling. Minimize burrs and achieve impeccable machining results with a large axial rake angle and the double-edge insert shape. Advanced features allow for easy adjustment of blade runout and adjustment from the front. With a lightweight hybrid body, the MFAH also supports internal coolant. Three insert types, including the first-recommended double-edge type, allow for a variety of machining applications. A new wedge-shape feature and double-pin structure help prevent scattering, while guide pins improve safety during high-speed rotation. The new MFAH for aluminum applications provides excellent surface finishes.

Introducing the MFPN66 milling series with a 66-degree cutting-edge angle. Cutting forces are reduced to suppress vibrations within the cut. It uses economical double-sided inserts with ten cutting edges and cutting diameters from 1.25 to 6 inches. Compared to a competitor’s 45-degree cutter, the MFPN66 reduced cutting forces by 33%. An excellent surface finish was maintained even with low clamping rigidity of the workpiece. The MFPN66 insert lineup includes the long-tool-life MEGACOAT NANO carbide series along with a cermet grade.

The MFSN88 milling cutter with an 88-degree cutting edge is now available. Reduce machining costs with economical double-sided inserts with eight cutting edges, used in various machining applications with cutting diameters ranging from 1.25 to 6 inches. Lower machining costs by switching from a 90-degree positive cutter to the MFSN88. It can machine closer to fixtures without the interference caused by a conventional 45-degree cutter. The MFSN88 uses long-tool-life MEGACOAT NANO carbide insert grades along with cermet grades. Lower your machining costs today with Kyocera’s highly efficient MFPN66 and MFSN88.

Announcing Kyocera’s new CA3 series CVD coating for turning cast iron. The new CA3 series insert grades use innovative coating technology to achieve both long tool life and stable machining. High coating adhesion prevents spalling of the coating to provide excellent machining stability. Compared to other products on the market, the CA3 series interface strength is 20% higher to resist boundary destruction and abrasion. Three grades are available to cover a broad range of machining applications. CA310 is the first recommendation for gray cast iron. CA315 is the first recommendation for nodular cast iron. CA320 is for heavily interrupted or high-speed machining. Utilize three new chipbreakers with exceptional chipping resistance to give you quality results over a wide range of machining applications.

Kyocera’s new wiper series includes the new WE and WF wiper chipbreakers alongside the WP+ wiper chipbreaker. Gain increased productivity with newly designed wiper-edge geometries. Two chipbreakers are available to cover different machining applications. The WE chipbreaker is designed for finishing to medium applications and can withstand three times the feed rate of standard inserts while maintaining excellent surface finish. Reduce cutting time with increased feed rate and triple the tool life. Use the WF chipbreaker for finishing applications with a depth of cut of 0.04 inches or less. The WP+ wiper chipbreaker provides excellent surface finish and smooth chip control during heavy machining and now includes new handed inserts.

Introducing Kyocera’s brand-new PR005S and PR015S turning grades, featuring new SQ and SX chipbreakers for machining super heat-resistant alloys. Also view our expanded lineup of PR1535 inserts for difficult-to-cut materials and the new TQ molded chipbreaker for decreased cutting resistance, longer tool life, and better chip control in various turning applications.

Introducing new cutoff holders with high-pressure coolant for small-parts machining. The KTKF-JCT holders provide excellent chip evacuation even with pressures ranging from one to three megapascals. Coolant finely breaks chips into small pieces from the rake side of the insert while being discharged from two different directions. A third coolant stream is directed over the relief surface of the insert to produce an excellent cooling action that minimizes wear for stable machining. Use Kyocera’s KTKF-JCT holders to improve various small-parts cutoff applications.

The new molded GL chipbreaker has been added to the GBF grooving tool system for small-parts machining. The GBF GL chipbreaker inserts are available in grooving widths from 0.03 to 0.12 inches. Twin dots are located on the chipbreaker to provide excellent chip control and properly curled chips. It achieves excellent chip evacuation in slotting and traversing applications. During high-feed grooving operations, the GL chipbreaker maintains stable chip control, improving the surface finish of the groove face. Improve your grooving productivity by using Kyocera’s GBF GL chipbreaker.

The new RFH coolant-through roughing end mills are for machining difficult-to-cut materials. Make more efficient cuts with a fine-pitch design. The RFH coolant-through end mills feature a unique serrated edge for better chip evacuation in deep-slotting applications. Featuring a curve with different radii, the serrated cutting edge distributes cutting pressure to alleviate stress for stable machining. The RFH can be used for semi-finishing to roughing of difficult-to-cut materials.

Fifteen new high-performance solid end mills have been added to Kyocera’s solid end mill lineup. The Z1M PCR provides excellent chatter resistance to reduce chattering in the cut.
